Indian farmers continue to protest, but why is no one talking about this?

Back in December, I was standing in the Starbucks located on University Avenue and King Street, waiting for my order. Looking out the window, I saw a tow truck blocking the green-light traffic for a series of cars adorned with colourful posters and flags, honking their way through King Street.

At the time, I knew something was happening, but I had no idea I had just witnessed a peaceful protest advocating for the rights of farmers in India.

But why are people in Canada protesting for farmers i

I’m not mad, just disappointed: Why my final semester of university has been a letdown

After four years of ruthless studying, building lifelong friendships, and insightful self-development, I will be sad to leave my undergraduate experience behind as I anxiously enter the working world this spring.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m very excited to graduate and start the next chapter, but my dreams of impatiently waiting with thousands of other students to cross the stage and receive my degree have been infected by COVID-19.

While spring graduation has been “post-phoned,” I highly doubt I’

Unsigned: Responding to Jamalof’s violation of COVID-19 regulations

On Jan. 29, Pegah Jamalof was announced as the 2021-22 Students’ Union president and CEO during a live Zoom event where she appeared to be at an unsanctioned group gathering. In a follow-up statement, Jamalof confirmed that the gathering did not adhere to COVID-19 bylaws.

Jamalof’s violation of COVID-19 bylaws coupled with her lack of preparedness on camera does not present a strong image for an incoming leader responsible for advocating and representing the student body.

GameStop, WallStreetBets, and the Big Wigs: The internet makes its mark on the economy

Peaking at a value of $470 USD, GameStop stock has risen dramatically over the past few weeks in response to the internet movement organized by the subreddit, WallStreetBets. Home to the world’s two largest stock exchanges, the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ, Wall Street has been rattled to its core by a Reddit army and here’s why.

GameStop is an American video game retailer that declined in 2016 due to the video game market going digital, thus eliminating physical retailers. In April 2020,

Maintaining healthy relationships near & far: Reflection, then action

As COVID-19 lockdowns attempt to separate the infected from the healthy, they have also divided people from interacting with their friends, family, and neighbours. Abiding by the stay-at-home order, people are limited to in-person interactions with their household and rely on technology to connect with the outside world.

COVID-19 has had an overt impact on people’s physical health, but the pandemic’s toll on mental health travels incognito, provoking feelings of disconnection, isolation, and a

Students are the real investors of higher education

One of the major troubles amongst students is paying for post-secondary education and subsequently repaying their debt accumulated by student loans.

While some may argue that you shouldn’t attend post-secondary if you cannot afford it, there is an increasing standard in the workforce that states that an individual needs a post-secondary degree or diploma to find employment with a livable wage. Therefore, young adults feel pressure to pay the increasing post-secondary education costs as an inves

Boston Dynamics releases ‘Do You Love Me?’: The reality of modern robotics

At the end of 2020, Boston Dynamics showcased its latest triumph in programming their robots Atlas, Spot, and Handle to dance to ‘Do You Love Me?’. Reactions to this video are scattered across a spectrum of fascination, enthusiasm, curiosity, and fear.

While some of us may praise and applaud these advancements in the field of robotics, others heed caution to these feats as the future of artificial intelligence has the potential to birth a Black Mirror episode into reality. But, let’s not jump t

Cyberpunk 2077: The most disastrous game release since Atari’s E.T.

After eight years of development at CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 quickly shifted from a likely Game of the Year candidate to an international pariah in the video game world. Littered with technical issues, game-breaking glitches, and graphical failures, Cyberpunk 2077 has sparked fan revolt, internal turmoil, and cross-corporate controversy.

Set in a dystopian future where digital nomads navigate the high-stakes world of corporate espionage, Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world role-playing game b

The US presidential election is far from over

The US Presidential Election began on Nov. 3 as American voters took to the polls while the entire world watched in anticipation throughout the week to see who would emerge victoriously.

The race was neck and neck until the Pennsylvanian vote was called, giving Joe Biden and the Democratic Party enough electoral votes to win the presidency.

Yet, this victory seems highly anticlimactic, and anxiety still lingers due to the discussions and actions that have followed the voting process.

Media Coverage & the US Election: How do you get your news?

Although the concept and indicators of fake news are becoming more common knowledge, influential people and communities continue to invest in fake news practices to push their personal agenda. While we often blame social media for the recent proliferation of fake news, mainstream media outlets are not exempt from contributing to the distribution of disinformation.

This past week has been chaos for media outlets around the world and their audiences as the US presidential election demands constan
